Daniela Melchior, who played Ratcatcher 2 in James Gunn’s DCEU film The Suicide Squad, offered an uncertain update regarding her return to the role within the DC Universe. Although her character played a big role in the DCEU film, she hasn’t appeared in other films within the now-defunct universe. Moreover, Melchior’s is one of several characters from the film who have not yet made the jump into the DCU, unlike John Cena’s Peacemaker or Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller.
Daniela Melchior talks Ratcatcher 2’s return possibility in DCU
In a recent interview, the Portuguese actress reflected upon the possibility of Ratcatcher 2’s return within the DCU.
Daniela Melchior, who noted that The Suicide Squad was her first American film, replied to ScreenRant, “I don’t know. I’d love to go back.” The 29-year-old noted that she has grown as an artist and a person since making that film, and stressed that while her accent was still thick, it wasn’t as thick as it was before.
The Road House star also expressed interest in playing a mature version of Ratcatcher 2, but said that she didn’t dwell on the opportunity lest she get sad.
This isn’t the first time Melchior has addressed the prospect of the character’s comeback. Previously, in an interview with Collider, she said that she was “patiently waiting” for a call from James Gunn to put on Ratcatcher 2’s suit again.
Furthermore, the Anaconda actress expressed interest in reprising the role in shows like Lanterns and Peacemaker, saying, “I’ve been manifesting. Just let it. Let’s light a candle.”
Before this, in 2024, while speaking to Nestor Cine, Daniela Melchior not only expressed interest in playing a different DC character within the DCU but also hoped to bring back Ratcatcher 2 and explore the character’s background and future. She added, “I’ve been saying that Ratcatcher 2 is taking a nap right now, but I can’t wait to wake her up.”
As of writing, Ratcatcher 2’s return within the DCU is unconfirmed. However, the possibility exists, considering how several cast members from The Suicide Squad, like Peacemaker, Emilia Harcourt, and Amanda Waller, were integrated into the DCU.
