US President Donald Trump has extended his support for the United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, amid the revelation of his connection with Jeffrey Epstein. His response was shared by Karoline Leavitt in a recent press briefing. This comes after Lutnick gave a statement regarding his meetings with Epstein.
Karoline Leavitt says Donald Trump supports Lutnick amid Epstein connection
The White House Press Secretary recently shared what the POTUS thinks about Howard Lutnick’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
When asked by a reporter 20 minutes into the briefing about Lutnick’s inclusion in the Epstein files, Karoline Leavitt shared that Donald Trump “fully supports” the Commerce Secretary. She added that Lutnick “remains a very important member of President Trump’s team” (via The Independent).
However, Leavitt refused to entertain any further questions regarding Lutnick and left the briefing. Recently, the records related to Epstein stated that Lutnick had been in contact with Epstein till 2018. He had even visited the financier’s infamous island in 2012 for lunch.
Moreover, in a recent Senate questioning, Lutnick conveyed, “We had lunch on the island, that is true, for an hour and we left with all of my children with my nannies and my wife … I don’t recall why we did it.” He further stated that he and his family were on a vacation.
However, Lutnick also denied knowing him too well and told the Senate lawmakers, “Over a 14-year period, I did not have any relationship with him. I barely had anything to do with that person.”
Additionally, Howard Lutnick was recently questioned by Senate lawmakers regarding his ties to Epstein. According to AP News, Democrat Chris Van Hollen told him, “There’s not an indication that you yourself engaged in any wrongdoing with Jeffrey Epstein. It’s the fact that you believe that you misled the country and the Congress based on your earlier statements. It’s absolutely essential that he (Lutnick) provide Congress with those documents, given the misrepresentations he’s made, and then we’ll go from there.”
Meanwhile, Karoline Leavitt also stated that Donald Trump has “always been honest and transparent” about his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
