Kid Rock addressed one of Super Bowl 60’s most talked-about entertainment controversies following the big game. The musician and conservative event headliner commented on Bad Bunny’s halftime performance, explaining why he didn’t connect with the show but placed the blame elsewhere.
Kid Rock addresses Bad Bunny’s halftime show
Kid Rock addressed Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show during an appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle. “Like most people, I didn’t understand any of it,” he said, adding, “I saw there’s a lot of dancers and a lot of big to-do stuff. And, you know, he said he wanted to have a dance party; it looked like he had one” (via The Hill).
He clarified he didn’t blame Bad Bunny but criticized the NFL and said, “I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. You know, it’s just — poor kid” (via Clutch Points).
Kid Rock headlined Turning Point USA’s 36-minute All-American Halftime Show, streamed from Atlanta as a direct alternative to the NFL’s program. The show featured Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, and Gabby Barrett. Turning Point launched it in response to backlash over Bad Bunny’s 13-minute performance, which highlighted Latin culture.
Bad Bunny’s performance included songs from his Grammy-winning album Debí Tirar Más Fotos and featured guests Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. He concluded his performance holding a football inscribed with “together we are America.” The show depicted imagery from Puerto Rican sugar fields to a Los Angeles taquería.
Kid Rock rejected claims of lip-syncing during his show, stating, “It was just a syncing issue that they had, and I know they tried to get it right.” He added, “Mainstream media, social media tries to amplify it. It would have been super easy to sync it up if it was prerecorded.” He praised the Turning Point crew, saying, “I can’t say enough good things about” them.
Donald Trump criticized Bad Bunny’s performance, calling it an “affront” and “one of the worst, EVER,” on Truth Social.
