A Seattle Police Department spokesperson confirmed the department will not reopen Kurt Cobain’s death case despite the homicide report. Recently, new developments surfaced in Cobain’s death investigation, which authorities closed in 1994. The member of the American rock band Nirvana was found dead at his Lake Washington Boulevard house. They discovered his body with a visible gunshot wound. Plus, a suicide note, and a Remington Model 11 20-gauge shotgun.
Police won’t reopen Kurt Cobain death case
A spokesperson from the Seattle Police Department recently addressed the “homicide” report. Notably, they confirmed Cobain’s case won’t be reopened. “Our detective concluded that he died by suicide, and this continues to be the position held by this department,” the spokesperson said, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The news of the reopening of the case emerged when the outlet reported that an unofficial private-sector team of forensic scientists had reopened Cobain’s case. Plus, it claimed that they are reexamining the autopsy reports and crime scene material and have discovered a shocking finding. Brian Burnett, a specialist involved in the case, has alleged that Cobain’s death was a “homicide,” as revealed by independent researcher Michelle Wilkin. She revealed that when Burnett looked at the evidence, in three days, he was able to understand that it’s not suicide. “This is a homicide. We’ve got to do something about this,” she said, referring to what Burnett told them.
Furtthermore, Wilkin revealed that they reached their conclusion after reviewing the autopsy. She claimed the report showed evidence that did not match a sudden gunshot death claim. She also revealed that the reviewed report presented 10 pieces of evidence. Allegedly, attackers forced him to overdose on heroin, and one of them shot him. In fact, they even left after placing a gun in the victim’s hand and a fake suicide note. “The necrosis of the brain and liver happens in an overdose. It doesn’t happen in a shotgun death,” she explained.
