Donald Trump Says He Is the Only Limit on U.S. Military Power

“I don’t need international law,” controversial President Donald Trump declared in a new interview, as he emphasized that his power is only limited by his “own morality.” This comes shortly after the United States launched Operation Absolute Resolve. It ended with the capture of Venezuela’s state head Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

With world politics in a sensitive spot, President Donald Trump has made some bold claims about his power and authority. In a recent interview with The New York Times, the often controversial President declared that he did not need international laws. He further added that his power was limited only by his “own morality.”

“It’s the only thing that can stop me,” the 79-year-old added, “I’m not looking to hurt people.” He, however, conceded that his administration needed to adhere to international law, but added, “It depends on what your definition of international law is.”

He also spoke about the importance of ownership as his administration looks for options to gain control of Greenland. “Ownership is very important,” Trump said, “Because that’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success. I think that ownership gives you a thing that you can’t do with, you’re talking about a lease or a treaty. Ownership gives you things and elements that you can’t get from just signing a document.”

During the interview, the President also dismissed claims that the US’s move in Venezuela would set the precedent of a potential Chinese takeover of Taiwan or Russia’s attempt to control Ukraine. He further defended the US operation in Venezuela, saying, “This was a real threat … You didn’t have people pouring into China. You didn’t have drugs pouring into China.”

He added, “You didn’t have all of the bad things that we’ve had. You didn’t have the jails of Taiwan opened up and the people pouring into China.” He further noted that there were no criminals “pouring into Russia.”

The world remains divided over Nicolás Maduro’s capture.
