Actor Kumail Nanjiani recently clarified that he and Michelle Obama had never met amidst a wild rumor linking the pair romantically. The actor revealed that this rumor appeared out of nowhere and had absolutely no basis. Still, many brought it up to him. He discussed it in his latest podcast appearance.
Kumail Nanjiani addresses Michelle Obama affair rumors
Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani recently addressed the wild rumor about him having romantic links with former First Lady Michelle Obama.
On a recent episode of the So True with Caleb Hearon podcast, the actor and comedian took on this topic. The rumor seemingly appeared from nowhere, and many proceeded to discuss it with Kumail and his wife, Emily V. Gordon.
He recalled how Emily told him about the rumor. “I was so excited!” he explained about the allegation. “My friend, our mutual friend, pulled Emily aside and was like, ‘Hey, so I heard that Kumail and Michelle Obama are like doing it.’ And she was like, she wasn’t even upset, but multiple people brought it up to me,” the Eternals actor explained.
Clearly stating how off-base the rumor was, Nanjiani revealed, “I have never met Michelle Obama.”
The rumor emerged as reports surfaced about Michelle Obama having marital troubles with former President Barack Obama. Michelle was not spotted with Barack earlier this year at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral or President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Michelle has spoken about their marital troubles in the past, too. In 2022, in a rather shocking statement, she claimed that she wasn’t very fond of Barack. “People think I’m being catty by saying this — it’s like, there were 10 years where I couldn’t stand my husband,” she told Revolt TV (via Complex), “And guess when it happened? When those kids were little.”
She added about this, “And for 10 years while we’re trying to build our careers and, you know, worrying about school and who’s doing what and what, I was like, ‘Ugh, this isn’t even,…And guess what? Marriage isn’t 50/50 — ever, ever.”
However, Kumail Nanjiani is quite clearly not involved in any of this.
