New Live-Action Sonic TV Show Coming To Paramount+ – Report

Paramount+ may be expanding its live-action Sonic slate once again, as a second Sonic TV show is reportedly in development. This follows the 2024 debut of Knuckles, the franchise’s first streaming-exclusive spin-off.

Paramount+ rumored to be developing a new Sonic universe TV show

Paramount is reportedly moving ahead with another live-action Sonic TV show. Industry scooper Daniel Richtman stated on X (formerly Twitter), “Another Sonic live-action show is in development for Paramount+.” No plot details, cast information, or release window were shared alongside the claim.

If true, this would be the next major step in the expansion of the Sonic universe. After the success of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movies, the franchise made its streaming debut in 2024 with Knuckles, led by Idris Elba. The series became the first live-action Sonic project outside the theatrical films, making way for more Paramount+ originals.

Additionally, the reported TV development comes as Paramount prepares to significantly scale up its Sonic plans. The studio has already confirmed Sonic the Hedgehog 4, scheduled to hit theaters in 2027. In addition, an untitled Sonic Universe Event Film has been dated for December 22, 2028, hinting at a long-term commitment to the franchise.

While Paramount has not officially confirmed what the new Sonic TV Show will focus on, two possibilities are already being discussed. One option is a second season of Knuckles, which could continue following Knuckles and Adam Pally’s Wade Whipple. With Elba attached and the first season already established, revisiting the character would be a straightforward move.

Another possibility involves Shadow the Hedgehog. Shadow made his live-action debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, voiced by Keanu Reeves, and was last seen leaving on a new path alongside Agent Stone, played by Lee Majdoub. Some speculation suggested his arc could continue in the upcoming 2028 film, but recent reporting indicates that the project will be a Sonic Heroes-style team-up instead.

For now, however, Paramount has not made any official announcements beyond what has been reported.
