In November 2025, Tara Reid, 50, claimed that a stranger drugged her at a Chicago-area hotel bar. The actress ended up in the hospital that night.
Later, a spokesperson for the Rosemont Police in Illinois told PEOPLE on December 11, 2025, that the case had been closed after the police found “no other evidence.” The police had “spoken to everyone involved” and decided to close the case. The person added, “We don’t want to say what she’s claiming is false.”
Tara Reid has spoken out about the investigation and its dismissal in a statement shared with PEOPLE on December 17, 2025. Reid called the experience “truly heartbreaking.” She added, “All of the bullying I have been subjected to since, and everyone twisting reality without the facts they weren’t even there to witness, is truly affecting my mental health, and I need it to stop.”
Moreover, Reid added in a statement to the Daily Mail that the surveillance footage doesn’t show her at the bar the whole time.
The actress further told PEOPLE, “They are making it seem like I chugged all this wine at once and ended up on a stretcher, but after reviewing the footage, that is not what happened at all.” She added, “In fact, I witnessed in the footage when I arrived back from smoking with the person, I only took one sip of wine in over 30 mins, and when the bartender asked me if I wanted another drink I signalled no because I still had a drink I didn’t barely touch.”
She went on to talk about being ridiculed online for the claim and asked for “support and privacy.” She added, “I need to heal.”
