Ecstatic SpongeBob Squarepants fans are unable to contain their excitement, as Bikini Bottom’s favorite snack is about to become a real-world fast food item. They have since flooded social media with speculations of their own.

Fans are going wild over the leaked images and recipe of Burger King’s SpongeBob-themed Krabby Patty meal. The fast food chain, too, is having a blast, as they are playing along with the speculations.
While Burger King’s team is not spilling the beans, their response is adding to the hype. They responded to one such image on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Is it December yet?!,” with a glancing eyes emoji.
Following the speculations, Burger King reportedly confirmed to PEOPLE in an email that the SpongeBob Squarepants menu will arrive on December 2, 2025. However, they have yet to make an official public announcement.
Now, adding further fuel to the rumors is the alleged Krabby Patty recipe sheet that is making waves online. The viral X post from ohwowspongebob, captioned, “THE SECRET FORMULA,” features a detailed Burger King recipe sheet with the title “SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper.”
The image provides a detailed breakdown of the burger’s secret ingredients from bun to patty that includes American cheese, pickles, ketchup, onions, lettuce, tomato, and that iconic Yellow SpongeBob Square Bun. This post blew up in no time, garnering almost a million views, prompting a reaction from Burger King saying, “What is this?!”.
Meanwhile, fans too jumped onto the bandwagon, flooding the comments section in no time. “This is so wrong. Everyone knows “First Bun, then Patty, followed by Ketchup, Mustard, Pickles, Onions, Lettuce, Cheese, Tomatoes and Bun” in that Order,” one ardent fan wrote.
“The secret sauce is mayonnaise and seasoning”, another user speculated. Furthermore, a third user commented, “No. That’s just the recipe. The secret formula is a special sauce that’s added to the burger, which is why it’s so addictive.”
Per PEOPLE, Burger King’s upcoming SpongeBob-themed menu is in celebration of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, which arrives in theaters on December 19. Notably, this isn’t the first attempt from a fast-food chain to create the iconic SpongeBob Krabby Patty. In 2024, Wendy’s launched their limited-time SpongeBob meals in celebration of the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants.
