Bryton James of The Young and the Restless has reportedly filed for divorce, just months after his March 2025 wedding. He plays the role of billionaire Devon Hamilton on the Young and Restless, ever since first appearing on the show in 2004. The news of the filing in Los Angeles has surprised fans, especially because of how recently James and his wife Jahaira celebrated their wedding.
Bryton James files for divorce from wife Jahaira
Bryton James reportedly filed for divorce from his wife Jahaira whom he married earlier this year in March. As per TMZ, the Family Matters actor cited “irreconcilable differences” while filing his divorce in Los Angeles on Monday, October 13, 2025. His wife Jahaira is a professional dancer and has performed as part of Beyoncé’s dance group on her tour.
James and his wife do not share any children together, and Bryton is reportedly asking the court to terminate the ability of spousal support for either of them. Additionally, he also seems to have requested that Jahaira restore her former name after the divorce.
In a now-deleted post from May 2025, James had shared pictures of Myers on Instagram, dancing for Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour (via Parade). The caption of the post reads, “What you’re looking at is the culmination of a lifetime of work, discipline, dedication, strength, bravery, and belief that my love ©jahshonye continues to exude. Her journey is what inspiration wants to be when it grows up. And I am beyond proud to be a witness to her art as we share this life together.”
Previously, James worked as a child actor on Family Matters, playing the role of Richie Crawford on the ABC/CBS sitcom. He is also popularly know for his role as the billionaire Devon Hamilton/Winters on The Young and the Restless.
In 2007, he even won a Daytime Emmy award as Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for this role. In the past, James was married to Ashley Leisinger from 2011, until their divorce three years later in 2014.
