Pluribus Star Gives Key Season 2 Release Date Update

With Pluribus Season 1 finale just around the corner, a new comment from star Rhea Seehorn has hinted at Season 2 release date timeline and more.

Rhea Seehorn shares details about potential Pluribus Season 2

Although Apple TV+ reportedly picked up Pluribus with a two-season straight-to-series order, a firm release date for Season 2 has not been announced. However, series star Rhea Seehorn, recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as the reluctant hero Carol Sturka, is as excited for the future as the fans.

At the Globes, she expressed her long-term hopes for the series, telling Variety, “I don’t know, I wish I did, and I hope it’s like 10 Seasons.” She confirmed, “They are in the writers’ room right now writing Season 2,” though she remains in the dark about Pluribus plot details, especially after what will happen in the upcoming finale.

As Season 2 is still in the writers’ room, it is likely to go into production next year. Considering the show’s extensive production and post-production needs, this start date points to a likely release of Pluribus Season 2 in late 2027 or early 2028. This aligns with the lengthy gap seen between Season 1’s filming start in February 2024 and its November 2025 release, also a timeline impacted by the 2023 industry strikes. With a reported budget of $15 million per episode, the sci-fi drama is a major undertaking (via Forbes).

Moreover, creator Vince Gilligan has a general roadmap for the series, telling ScreenRant he currently envisions perhaps three seasons for Pluribus, but remains open to the story’s natural progression. “The biggest trick in this job is knowing when to leave the party,” he said.

Seehorn, for her part, hopes to continue exploring Carol’s flawed humanity, telling Deadline she wants “to just keep getting to play with the complexity and the incredible authenticity of how human he’s allowing her to be.”

For now, fans can catch the highly anticipated Pluribus Season 1 finale on December 26.
