A new rumor speculates on Florence Pugh’s next three movies set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Pugh, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Amy March in 2019’s Little Women, debuted as Yelena Belova in 2021’s Black Widow. She has since portrayed the character in the 2021 Disney+ series Hawkeye and the 2025 feature Thunderbolts*. She also voiced the character in the animated series Marvel Zombies.
Marvel rumor hints Florence Pugh will have the most MCU roles in Phase 6
Industry scopper @MyTimeToShineH took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim, “Yelena will have a HUGE role in both Avengers films and a few scenes in Spider-Man Brand New Day.” Marvel confirmed Pugh’s inclusion in the Avengers: Doomsday cast back in March 2025, and there have been a lot of speculations about her involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars and the fourth MCU Spider-Man movie.
Perhaps, the most important part of the above post is “huge,” which the scooper wrote in capital letters. Yelena is effectively the leader of the New Avengers. It makes sense for Pugh to have a big role to play in the narrative of Doomsday or any MCU project she is part of in the future.
In an April 2025 interview with Collider, Pugh reflected on the quality or skill Yelena gained in Thunderbolts*, as a leader or a person, that she would like to explore more in future Marvel projects. The We Live in Time star stated, “One of the things that I love about her is she always does try to take people in. She loves finding people who maybe are a bit weaker or a bit more vulnerable, and she looks after them.” Pugh noted that Yelena experienced this with her sister, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), and picked this caring nature from her. Yelena then helped Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) and Lewis Pullman’s Robert “Bob” Reynolds.
The 29-year-old actress added, “So, going forward, I hope it’s something that we get to see again, because it’s certainly a piece of her that I think is a wonderful thing to watch on a big screen.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day debuts in U.S. theaters on July 31, 2026, followed by Doomsday on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
