Bradley Beal Joins LA Team After Contract Buyout to End Disaster Phoenix Run

The Phoenix Suns and Bradley Beal have finally decided to part ways, with the NBA veteran jumping ship to the LA Clippers after what has been a tumultuous time for Beal and the Suns. The seasoned point guard completed a buyout with the Suns to facilitate his transfer to the Intuit Dome.

Here are all the details on Beal’s summer move.

Bradley Beal signs with Clippers after agreeing buyout with Suns

In a move that many NBA pundits saw coming, Bradley Beal has agreed to a contract buyout with the Suns, bringing his stint at Phoenix to a premature end. Beal will be giving back $13.9 million out of the $110 million owed to him for the two remaining years on his deal with the Suns as part of the buyout. This would allow Phoenix to waive and stretch the remainder of his salary for five seasons, should the eight-time Pacific Division winners opt to do so.

The 32-year-old has reportedly put pen to paper on a two-year contract, worth $11 million, with the LA Clippers, that includes a player option for the 2026-27 NBA season, which could make Beal one of the most sought-after free agents next summer. Clippers star James Harden reportedly played a pivotal role in bringing Beal to Los Angeles, even speaking with the player and his camp to complete the move.

Having joined the Suns in 2023, Bradley Beal failed to lead his side to their maiden NBA title, despite putting out considerable numbers on the court throughout two seasons. Despite injuries and team decisions hindering his potential, Beal was able to average 17.6 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds for Phoenix in the last two NBA campaigns. As such, the Suns allowed Beal to negotiate with other teams ahead of the 2025-26 season in an attempt to fast-track his departure.
