Netflix has decided to cancel the action comedy series Fubar after a two-season run. Featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a veteran CIA operative, the show premiered on May 25, 2023. The sophomore season subsequently debuted on June 12, 2025. Fubar becomes one of the rare cancellations on the streaming giant in 2025 after The Recruit, Pulse, and The Residence. The Recruit will also not return for Season 3, while the other two were scrapped after their inaugural seasons.
Fubar Season 3 won’t happen as Netflix canceled it after Season 2
Fubar was canceled before Season 3, likely due to the previous chapter’s poor performance with the Netflix viewership. When the first season debuted, it was a considerable success on the platform, likely driven by Schwarzenegger’s star power and international appeal. In its premiere weekend, the series accumulated about 11 million views. However, when the show returned with its next chapter, it received a much more subdued response from the audience.
Season 2 only managed to reach the seventh spot on the list of Netflix’s English-language series, with 3.3 million views in its first full week on the streamer. This came after the season registered 2.2 million views from Thursday through Sunday in the first week. In week 3, the season was once more ranked in the Top 10 with 1.8 million views before disappearing from the list. (via Deadline)
Fubar Season 2’s disappointing performance came as a surprise to many. Besides Schwarzenegger’s aforementioned star power, the interest in the show’s sophomore return was also fueled by his co-star Monica Barbaro receiving an Oscar nod for her portrayal of Joan Baez in the biopic A Complete Unknown (2024).
Fubar predominantly revolves around Schwarzenegger’s Luke Brunner and his daughter Emma (Barbaro). They discover that they both work for the CIA and now must navigate how that impacts their relationship, while dealing with international criminals. The cast also includes Milan Carter as Barry, Jay Baruchel as Carter, Fabiana Udenio as Tally Brunner, and Carrie-Anne Moss as Greta Nelso.
Both seasons of Fubar are currently streaming on Netflix.
