After stealing the spotlight in James Gunn’s Superman with his charm, Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen is seemingly getting a spin-off series of his own, with a major villain from the Flash’s rogue gallery rumored to make an appearance in the project. Ongoing speculations suggest that Gisondo will soon reprise his DCU role of the iconic The Daily Planet photojournalist in his own anthology series and will face off against a particular telepathic villain of Barry Allen’s Scarlet Speedster.
Gorilla Grodd to make live-action DCU debut in Skyler Gisondo-led Jimmy Olsen series
According to a renowned entertainment scooper, the fan-favorite Flash villain Gorilla Grodd is likely to make his live-action debut in the DCU through the rumored anthology series that will center around Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen.
As per Jeff Sneider, the show would potentially see the Superman sidekick investigate the whereabouts of a horde of DC antagonists throughout its run. It is one of the many spin-off projects that DC Studios is supposedly developing under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s leadership. According to The Wall Street Journal’s recent report, a similar spin-off project focusing on Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific could also see the light of day soon.
In the latest edition of his newsletter, Sneider also noted that the genius ape, who possesses the ability to take control of his targets’ minds, is on the cards to feature as one of the aforementioned villains who Jimmy Olsen will pursue in his rumored series.
Notably, Gorilla Grodd has already made his DCU debut, with the Gorilla City ruler making a brief cameo in 2024’s Creature Commandos. While the Flash’s arch-rival seems to be an active part of the upcoming DCU projects, it will be some time before fans will be able to witness the fastest man alive on the big screen.
In an earlier Threads update, James Gunn revealed that he has currently put the introduction of the Flash on the back burner. Talking about why the Tom Rhys Harries-led Clayface is premiering so early in the DCU slate, Gunn noted, “No movie will be greenlit before the script is ready. And @flanaganfilm’s script was ready (And as for the Flash, we’re holding a beat on development).”
