King Charles and Prince Harry‘s reunion is seemingly on the horizon, but it looks like it won’t go as smoothly. The father and son have been estranged since the Duke of Sussex stepped down from his public role in 2020. Harry also made allegations against the British royal family after moving to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle.
In recent months, there have been reports about Harry trying to mend the broken bridges with Charles, who has been battling cancer. Now, a potential window appears to be opening soon for the father and son to reunite. However, according to the latest claims, Charles will not adjust his upcoming schedule with Donald Trump to meet Harry.
Chances of King Charles and Prince Harry having an in-depth conversation are slim, says royal author
A new report has suggested that the chances of King Charles and Prince Harry having an in-depth conversation are slim. Us Weekly notes that a window is opening for the estranged father and son’s potential reunion. The Duke of Sussex will soon be in the United Kingdom to attend the WellChild Awards, which will take place on September 8.
The outlet exclusively learned from royal sources and experts that Harry is open to meeting his father during the visit. However, it will reportedly be up to Charles if the face-to-face meeting happens. The king is set to host Donald Trump, along with his wife, Melania Trump, during the president’s visit to the U.K. from September 17–19.
According to the Us Weekly source, Charles wouldn’t change his schedule to see Harry if it affects the preparation for Trump. They stated, “It’s a state visit and takes precedence.” Christopher Andersen, author of “The King: The Life of King Charles III,” further suggested that there are too many obstacles in the way of the reunion.
The royal author believes that the chances of a meeting between Charles and Harry are “slim.” Andersen continued to explain that the cancer-battling king has been focusing on his health. Moreover, Charles will be “consumed” by Trump’s visit. Furthermore, the author even claimed that “having Harry around is the sort of draining distraction.”
Andersen added that the king doesn’t need that at the moment. The chatter about the father-son meeting began after their respective aides met in July in London. Charles and Harry‘s reunion has been much-anticipated since.
