Ellen DeGeneres might reportedly be looking to re-enter the TV business after her toxic past recently resurfaced. A source exclusively told Star Magazine that the former talk show host would take up any chance of being on TV despite accusations that she ran a toxic workplace while hosting “The Ellen DeGenres Show.” This report comes after comedian Adam Carolla, reflecting on his appearance on the talk show, recently confessed that DeGeneres’ staff was scared of her.
Ellen DeGeneres is reaching out to old friends as she wants to rebuild her TV empire, says source
Ellen DeGeneres is allegedly looking to be back where she belongs. According to Star Magazine’s exclusive report, the comedian is confident she can build her career in TV, over two years after leaving her hugely popular “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” A source told the outlet that she would opt for the prospect of returning to television if given a chance.
The insider added, “It may seem delusional, but she really believes she can jump-start her career.” DeGeneres is reportedly reaching out to old friends to try to help her in this endeavour. These include close pals Jennifer Aniston and Kris Jenner, who have made several appearances on the former host’s talk show. The source also claimed she is ready to give her TV career another shot and rebuild her empire.
DeGeneres faced accusations of creating a toxic workplace environment on her talk show. Current and former staffers spoke to Buzzfeed News in 2020, sharing their experiences. One former employee confessed to enduring racist comments during her time working on the show. Meanwhile, executive producers Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly, and Andy Lassner told the outlet via a joint statement that they take their staff’s stories “very seriously.”
Comedian Adam Carolla, who once made a guest appearance on the talk show, shed light on the situation on “After Party with Emily Jashinsky.” He claimed that the producer ensured he stuck to the pre-approved discussion points. This allegedly led him to realize that the staff members were “scared to death” of DeGeneres. Responding to these claims, a source shared that the “shocked” former host never knew that the staff felt this way.
After ending her talk show in May 2022, DeGeneres briefly made a public appearance for her “Ellen’s Last Stand Up…Tour” in 2024. The comedian has since moved to the U.K. with her wife, Portia de Rossi.
