Anya Taylor-Joy clarifies she ‘puked’ during her first voice-acting job

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Anya Taylor-Joy recently answered a question about puking during recording for her voice performance as Princess Peach. The actress clarified that she did not puke during her performance as Princess Peach and revealed what actually happened to her.

“Okay, so I’m actually so glad you asked me this question. I never said it was Princess Peach. I said it was the first time that I ever did voice acting,” the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga star said. She explained, “I went in quite blind, and I did it for eight straight hours.”

Taylor-Joy added, “So, eight straight hours of screaming and efforts and this and that and whatever. And I drank so much water that, yeah, I puked.”

“People don’t know it’s tough,” her Mario co-star Jack Black added, “Yeah, three is my limit, you know, and that’s powering with tea and honey the whole time. Because it takes a toll on your pipes.”

Taylor-Joy added, “So, I’ve never puked for Peach, which makes me feel good. But yeah, little Anya definitely had a steep learning curve.”

Anya Taylor-Joy and Jack Black both reprise their roles in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which premieres on April 1, 2026. The film also features the voice talents of Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, Benny Safdie, Donald Glover, Brie Larson, and Glen Powell.
