Seasoned late-night talk show host and avid Donald Trump critic Jimmy Kimmel has added to his rants against the President and his administration by ridiculing Mike Johnson, the current House speaker. In a recent monologue, he blasted Johnson for giving Trump yet another made-up award, describing the entire act as embarrassing.
Jimmy Kimmel roasts Mike Johnson in new monologue
On the March 26 episode of his show, the veteran comedian made fun of the former Louisiana representative after he honored the POTUS as the inaugural winner of the “America First Award.”
“I can’t figure out who should be more embarrassed: the guy who came up with the new award, or the guy who proudly accepted the new award,” Jimmy Kimmel remarked. “Watch Mike Johnson here; you can almost feel his spine exiting his body,” he added as he played a clip on Jimmy Kimmel Live! of the speaker making his speech.
“He is the suitable and fitting recipient of the first-ever America First Award. We can think of no better title for what that is,” Johnson remarked before calling Donald Trump to the stage.
Moreover, Kimmel responded to Johnson’s comments by quipping, “Did you try? Because I can come up with some. How about the Lies-man Trophy? That would be a better name. The B-Emmy would be good. The Nobel ‘Piece of You Know What.'”
Adding to his roast of Mike Johnson, Jimmy Kimmel noted, “The squeaker of the House is correct: there can be no more deserving winner of this fictitious distinction you created specifically to tongue-bathe his undercarriage than Donald Trump.”
The 58-year-old host then fired shots at the current US President for continuing to accept newly introduced awards, stating, “My favorite part, when they give Trump these awards, is when he comes out with a look of surprise on his face…And the saddest part is, he seems to be genuinely honored by these imaginary accolades.”
Furthermore, Kimmel took a jab at Trump’s penchant for getting accolades, including him recently receiving the Nobel Peace Prize and Olympic Gold medals from the actual awardees.
