Donald Glover is rethinking what comes next for his music career, and fans finally have some clarity. After earlier hints about stepping away, the artist is now leaving the door open for more under his Childish Gambino name.
Donald Glover reveals if he will make music as Childish Gambino again
Donald Glover recently addressed the future of Childish Gambino while attending a film premiere in Japan. When asked about reports suggesting he was done with the project, he pushed back in a relaxed, honest way. “I still really love making music. I don’t think that’s ever gonna go away,” he said, making it clear that creating songs still matters to him.
He added that music doesn’t always have to be public. Some tracks are just for him. “I love making it, you know, even if that’s for myself… I have plenty of songs that are just for me,” he shared. Glover also joked that he isn’t secretly holding back unreleased material, saying he’s not “hoarding” songs. However, if he feels something is worth sharing, he will release it.
This update comes after his earlier comments suggested the opposite. In a 2024 interview, Glover said making music no longer felt fulfilling. “It really was just like, ‘Oh, it’s done.’ It’s not fulfilling,” he admitted at the time, explaining why many believed Childish Gambino was officially over.
Despite that, his impact as Gambino is huge. He released multiple albums and delivered major hits, including “This Is America,” which earned him four Grammy Awards. His latest album, “Bando Stone & the New World,” arrived in 2024 alongside a final tour, making it feel like a proper send-off at the time.
Beyond music, Glover stays busy as an actor, writer, and creator, balancing projects across film and TV. Still, his latest comments suggest the creative spark for music hasn’t faded. Whether it’s a full comeback or occasional drops, he’s clearly not shutting that chapter completely.
