Ex-Prince Andrew’s ‘Scathing’ Meghan Markle Comment Caused Tensions — Author

Reports about ex-Prince Andrew’s view of Meghan Markle have allegedly added another strain to Prince Harry’s already tense royal ties. The claim resurfaced in Tom Bower’s new book, which also revisited a difficult coronation-era car ride involving Harry and his uncle in May 2023. At the same time, the Sussexes’ spokesperson pushed back hard against the book, saying the author had crossed a line and built his work around fixation rather than fact.

The fresh claim came as scrutiny around the Sussexes and the wider royal fallout stayed intense. As per a new report, Bower’s book explored whether the broken bonds between the Sussexes and Windsors could still be repaired. However, the strongest new angle centered on the former prince’s alleged comment about the Suits alum and how that reportedly shaped the mood around Harry.

Ex-Prince Andrew caused tensions with Prince Harris over Meghan Markle comment, per royal author

Ex-Prince Andrew, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry were pulled into the same flashpoint again through Bower’s account of the coronation journey. As per Hello! Magazine, the author wrote, “Relations between the uncle and his nephew were not good.”

He then added that, “In some accounts, Andrew had scathingly dismissed Meghan as an ‘opportunist.’” That reported remark sat behind the tense Westminster Abbey arrival in May 2023, when Harry attended the coronation without Markle.

Meanwhile, the Sussex camp did not stay silent. Their spokesperson issued a statement on March 14 and rejected Bower’s framing outright. The statement read, “Mr Bower’s commentary has long crossed the line from criticism into fixation.”

It then added that he had “made a career out of constructing ever more elaborate theories about people he does not know and has never met.” In turn, that response made clear Harry and Markle saw the book as a direct attack, not an ordinary royal commentary.

Elsewhere, Hello cited royal editor Russell Myers, who said Harry and William “never had a close relationship” with their uncle on A Right Royal Podcast. He added, “Neither is Harry.” That context mattered because it suggested the friction did not begin with one reported Markle comment alone. Still, the “opportunist” claim gave the latest dispute a sharper edge. For now, the book’s release has only reopened another painful chapter between Harry and the royal household.
