Donald Trump Says He Doesn’t ‘Like to Talk’ To His Son About Golf Club

Donald Trump recently revealed that he doesn’t like talking to his son, Eric, about his golf club. The 42-year-old is a businessman and the third child of the US President. Trump recently attended the luncheon organized for the Friends of Ireland event on March 17, 2026. The event was hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson for Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland, Micheál Martin, and Trump.

Donald Trump jokes about his son Eric

During the recent Friends of Ireland event, Donald Trump said he is not a fan of talking to his son, Eric, about his golf club.

The US President was addressing the attendees at the US Capitol for the St Patrick’s Day luncheon when he made the revelation. In a clip posted on X, Trump says, “We’re going to have the Irish Open at a property that happens to be owned by yours truly, but I have nothing to do with it.”

As the room erupted in laughter, Trump added, “I own it, but I have….I don’t even like to talk to my son. He says, ‘Dad, we’re doing great with the property.’ I’m allowed to, I’m allowed to run it, but I don’t choose to. ‘Dad, we’re doing great.’ Eric calls up. He’s doing a good job.” Trump then asked an attendee whether they liked Eric, to which the attendee seemed to agree.

The President continued, “Who doesn’t like Eric? But he calls up, ‘Dad, we’re doing a great job in Ireland.'” He also stated that when Eric starts telling him about the details of his operations in Ireland, he says, “Don’t tell me about it, I don’t want to know.”

Trump was present at the Friends of Ireland luncheon hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson. The event was held as part of the St. Patrick’s Day tradition, which has been carried out since 1983.
