Home Improvement’s Zachery Ty Bryan Faces Jail Time of Over 1 Year

Zachery Ty Bryan, known for playing Brad Taylor on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement, has once again run into legal trouble, this time resulting in his arrest and a significant jail term. Officials have slapped a 16-month prison sentence on the actor, owing to his February 2024 arrest related to DUI charges.

Zachery Ty Bryan to face over 14 months in prison for 2024 arrest

On Monday, February 23, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift star received a 16-month prison sentence. This is regarding his 2024 DUI arrest, wherein authorities had detained him in La Quinta, California, on the counts of a felony DUI and a misdemeanor for alleged contempt of court.

According to documents procured by PEOPLE, Zachery Ty Bryan was summoned by the court on Monday with respect to his 2024 offense. The hearing ended with him agreeing to a plea deal with prosecutors after pleading guilty to the DUI charge. Furthermore, Bryan admitted to an enhancement pertaining to having two prior DUI convictions.

The judgment dictates that the 44-year-old actor will serve his sentence in a county jail, without any option for probation. However, given that he currently possesses 57 days of jail credit, he will be spending a little over 14 months behind bars.

Notably, Zachery Ty Bryan has faced arrest on six occasions in the past five years. The troubled actor also has a hearing pending in a court in Lane County, Oregon, on March 2. The due date is a probation violation hearing, which relates to a July 2023 domestic violence conviction (via PEOPLE).

The Eugene Police Department carried out Bryan’s arrest at the time, after responding to a report of a physical dispute. They ultimately charged him with third-degree robbery and misdemeanor harassment charges, with him pleading guilty in the case in an October 2023 hearing. Bryan subsequently spent 7 days in jail. Previously, in January 2025, he even faced arrest on second-degree domestic violence charges.
