The ongoing investigation into Today anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie‘s mysterious disappearance, has received a new update. With the search for the missing senior citizen continuing to unfold, the FBI recently shared several images and videos depicting a masked individual approaching Guthrie’s home. Notably, around this time, authorities detained a person of interest in Tucson, Arizona, allegedly connected to Guthrie’s disappearance.
FBI’s Kash Patel releases images of suspect linked to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance
FBI director Kash Patel shared six black-and-white images and three videos captured by a CCTV camera on X (formerly Twitter). The pictures and videos show a masked person, wearing a jacket, gloves, a monkey cap, and carrying a backpack. The individual arrives at Nancy Guthrie’s home and interacts with the CCTV camera near the entrance. They then walk back and pick up some flowers lying on the grass, which they use to cover the lens.
In a statement accompanying the images and videos, Patel shared that the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department had been closely working with their private sector partners for the last eight days since Guthrie’s disappearance to recover photos and video footage from Guthrie’s home that may have been lost or rendered corrupted and inaccessible. He revealed that the video showing the masked individual was recovered from residual data residing in backend systems.
He continued, “Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.” Patel concluded his statement by urging people with information to contact the FBI or visit the official website.
The other images and two videos can be found here.
After the FBI released the videos and images, Savannah Guthrie shared them on her Instagram. In her first post, the news anchor said her mother was “still alive,” calling for her to be returned home. In a subsequent post, Guthrie suggested “someone out there” recognized the masked individual, again calling for her mother, who she believed was “still out there,” to be brought back home.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department recently released a statement on X. They revealed that they have detained an individual connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance during a traffic stop south of Tucson and are currently questioning them. The authorities promised to reveal additional information when it became available.
