A Marvel insider has revealed what may be Avengers: Doomsday’s most intense showdown ahead of the film’s release. A source described a major battle between two iconic characters as “the most epic fight in the film and maybe ever in the MCU.”
Magneto vs. Doctor Doom could be MCU’s ‘most epic fight’
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X, “Magneto vs Doom was described to me as the most epic fight in the film and maybe ever in the MCU.” This aligns with earlier reports indicating Ian McKellen’s Magneto will play a major role in the movie, potentially as the most valuable player among the X-Men.
Magneto’s return was first confirmed by Marvel Studios in March 2025, with McKellen reprising the role alongside other X-Men actors, including Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, and Alan Cumming.
Daniel Richtman previously reported on X that “Magneto is the MVP of Avengers Doomsday.” Marvel Studios will release the movie in December 2026, but they continue to keep plot details tightly guarded.
In April 2025, Simu Liu, who plays Shang-Chi, discussed the presence of McKellen and Stewart on set during an interview on the Jennifer Hudson Show. Liu said, “Two of the greatest actors to ever walk the face of the Earth… it kind of blew my mind a little bit. We are so excited to get back to work.” He emphasized that the production is highly secretive but said Avengers: Doomsday “is going to be an amazing big movie.”
A teaser released for the film offered a glimpse of McKellen’s Magneto, Stewart’s Professor X, and James Marsden’s Cyclops. Marvel Studios has not revealed any official footage of the rumored Magneto vs. Doom battle. McKellen has not publicly commented on his role or the reported fight.
Marvel Studios will release Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026.
