Spider-Man: Brand New Day Report Reveals 1 More Mutant for Sequel

A new rumor about Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day alleges there will be multiple mutants in the film. One of the prevailing rumors surrounding the highly anticipated movie suggests that one mutant will show up, X-Men member Jean Grey. However, her presence in it has not been officially confirmed. Launching this summer, the upcoming film will mark the next chapter in Tom Holland’s webslinger’s story in the MCU.

Rumor suggests multiple mutants for Spider-Man: Brand New Day

YouTuber and podcaster, The Geeky Cast, claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that there would be more than one mutant in Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day. However, they did not cite a source behind this rumor.

A fan responded, suggesting Cyclops was the other mutant showing up. This is likely due to Jean Grey’s rumored inclusion and his shared history with her in comics and most Marvel media. However, the scooper replied that Scott Summers wasn’t appearing in the film. Notably, James Marsden’s iteration of Summers is appearing in December’s Avengers: Doomsday.

Ultimately, this is only a rumor and must be treated as such until Marvel Studios or Sony shares official confirmation.

This rumor comes shortly after speculation surrounding Rogue’s MCU introduction in the film emerged following the teaser trailer’s release. The footage included a brief shot of a young girl on a bus that bore the power-absorbing mutant’s signature hairstyle and color. However, it’s unclear if it’s Rogue or a random civilian.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day drops in theaters on July 31, 2026. The story takes place four years after No Way Home and finds Peter Parker, now unknown to the world and his loved ones, like Ned Leeds and MJ, focusing intensely on his crime-fighting career. While investigating a series of crimes and a new, powerful threat, he undergoes a painful metamorphosis that enhances his spider-like traits and gives him new abilities like organic webbing.

Destin Daniel Cretton, who helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and co-created Disney+’s Wonder Man, directed the movie. Meanwhile, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers co-wrote the screenplay. The latter two previously co-wrote the scripts of the previous MCU Spider-Man films.

Tom Holland leads the cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Supporting actors include Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. Also appearing in the movie are Marvin Jones III, Eman Esfandi, Zabryna Guevara, and Liza Colón-Zayas.
