Online speculation about Sydney Sweeney’s dating life escalated this week after viral social media posts falsely claimed the actress was involved with Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao. The rumors spread rapidly across X, drawing widespread attention before Zhao publicly dismissed the claims as untrue.

Changpeng “Cz” Zhao, the co-founder of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has publicly dismissed online rumors of dating Sydney Sweeney. He called the rumors false and cautioned against the growing spread of wrong information on social media.
The speculation started from a post on X (formerly Twitter) that paired images of Zhao and the Euphoria star while alleging they were in a relationship. Despite lacking any evidence, the post circulated widely, quickly drawing widespread attention across the platform.
Zhao addressed the claims directly, stating that he has never met Sweeney and has no personal relationship with her. He described the report as “fake news” and expressed concern about how easily false news can gain momentum online. “Poor Sydney Sweeney. Never met her. I don’t socialize much. Figuring out what “news” to not believe in is becoming harder, but you will be richer if you can,” he wrote.
Sweeney has not responded publicly to the rumors or Zhao’s comments. However, recent reports indicate that the actress is currently in a relationship with Scooter Braun. The two were first linked in September 2025 after being introduced as guests at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Italy.
Since then, their relationship has reportedly progressed steadily. The pair spent the recent New Year holiday traveling together in Europe. They were also seen on a more low-key outing at Dave & Buster’s in Hollywood on January 10. Recently, a source told PEOPLE, “Sydney and Scooter are totally confident and comfortable in their relationship. Things between them are stronger than ever, and they’re in a great place.”
