Netflix has announced the judging panel for its Star Search revival, a show that originally helped launch stars like Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake. In the new reboot of the show, Netflix has added the star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as one of the judges, alongside others who command a repertoire.

Ahead of the Star Search revival, Netflix announced its panel of judges for the show on January 6, 2026. As per the streaming platform, Jelly Roll, Chrissy Teigen, and Sarah Michelle Gellar have been picked for this job.
Jelly Roll, of course, is one of the most exciting musicians of the era, with hits like Son of a Sinner and Need a Favor, which have propelled him to global fame. Among his achievements, Jelly Roll has won three CMT Music Awards in 2023. He was also nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.
Chrissy Teigen, meanwhile, is a model, television personality, and author who has been a panelist on daytime talk show FABLife. She has also co-hosted the musical competition show Lip Sync Battle and served as a judge on the comedy competition show Bring the Funny.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is one of the most renowned figures in the television industry. Starting her journey in the industry at the age of five, Gellar broke out with the teen drama series Swans Crossing. She is best known for her portrayal of Buffy Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This role also earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
Anthony Anderson will host Netflix’s Star Search. The series will air live on the streaming platform over five weeks starting from January 20, 2026. The episodes will air on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with viewers getting the chance to vote in real time.
The original Star Search ran from 1983 to 1995. Moreover, it had a short-lived revival in 2003. Figures like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Dave Chappelle, and Adam Sandler have appeared on the show before becoming the huge figures they are today.
