A recent rumor suggests that Zombies 5, the sequel to the popular Disney horror film Zombies, is currently in production. The first part of the Zombies franchise, directed by Paul Hoen, was released in 2018. The cast of these movies includes Meg Donnelly, Milo Manheim, and Kylee Russell, among others.
Zombies 5 in works for Disney+ and Disney Channel
According to a recent scoop by My Time To Shine Hello (MTTSH), Disney is working on a Zombies 5 movie. The scoop suggests that the movie is in production for the streaming platform Disney+ and the Disney Channel. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this from the studio yet.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), MTTSH wrote, “SCOOP: Disney+ and Disney Channel are developing ZOMBIES 5, which is set to introduce a new mermaid species to the franchise. Kenzi Richardson is currently in talks to star as the lead mermaid. Freya Skye and Malachi Barton are confirmed to return, while Ariel Martin is in negotiations to reprise her role as Wynter.”
The latest Zombies movie, Zombies 4, was released on Disney Channel on July 10, 2025. While speaking to Deadline in July 2025, Milo Manheim shared his thoughts on a fifth part.
The School Spirits star stated, “I think that one of the amazing things about this franchise is that we’ve kind of created this universe that can go any direction. We’re really just expanding and literally getting outside of Seabrook. So I’m curious to see what happens. I think the world could always use another Zombies movie.”
Moreover, Meg Donnelly echoed the same thoughts regarding a potential sequel to the Disney movie. She conveyed to the outlet, “I feel like this movie, because the four of us are involved, it’s very split between the two. I think it’s literally just the start of the kids’ story, and I feel like there needs to be another one to tell their story.”
