Speculation connecting Christian Pulisic and Sydney Sweeney began circulating online in late December, following reports of Sweeney’s breakup earlier this year from her former fiancé, Jonathan Davino. The rumors gained enough traction that the U.S. soccer star felt compelled to respond publicly.
On December 28, Pulisic used his Instagram Stories to shut down the claims directly. “Please stop with the made-up stories about my personal life,” he wrote. “Need to hold sources accountable, it can affect people’s lives.” The message was his first response to the dating speculation.
Pulisic reiterated that position in the comments of a separate Instagram post alleging a romantic relationship between him and the Anyone But You actress. Responding publicly, he wrote, “Fake news guys let’s stop with the silly rumor,” making it clear that the reports were unfounded.
According to reports, the gossip originated on December 25 after Italian outlet Gazzetta referenced claims that first appeared on the Instagram page Bomber’s DNA. Despite having no confirmation, the rumor quickly spread across social media platforms. Furthermore, separate reporting indicates that Pulisic has been in a relationship with fellow athlete Alexa Melton since 2024. Meanwhile, Sweeney has been linked to music executive Scooter Braun since early September.
A source previously told People in early December, “Scooter and Sydney are going strong and things between them are great. They’re in a committed relationship and things are serious.” The pair have been seen together multiple times over recent months, including a November sighting in New York City’s Central Park, where they were photographed sharing a kiss.
