Sydney Sweeney Would Love to Reprise Her ‘Spicy’ Character in R-Rated Film

After ample anticipation, Paul Feig’s The Housemaid, starring Sydney Sweeney in the leading role, is here in the theatres. The film has received positive reviews and has started well at the box office. Hot on the heels of the release, Sweeney has already claimed that she was ready to return for a sequel as the same character.

Sydney Sweeney would love to come back for The Housemaid sequel

Sydney Sweeney, who stars alongside Amanda Seyfried in this new movie, revealed to PEOPLE in a recent interview that she would love to reprise her role for a possible sequel to The Housemaid.

When talking to PEOPLE about whether she would reprise the role, Sweeney said, “I would love to.” She continued, “I was such a huge fan of the books, so I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie.”

Sydney Sweeney was all praises about the character during this interview. “She’s spicy. She is a fighter. She knows what she believes in, and she stands up for it. I love characters like that,” she said. The Anyone But You star further added, “I love seeing movies that have just fully embraced female rage.”

Interestingly, as The Housemaid is based on a novel that also has other follow-up novels, there is indeed space for the Sydney Sweeney starrer to return. Sweeney also expressed her excitement for a sequel during the New York premiere of The Housemaid.

Feig has also indicated that they may move in that direction if the film does well in the theatres.

The Housemaid follows a troubled young woman (Sweeney), who becomes a housemaid for a wealthy family, only to uncover that sinister secrets are hiding in the layers of a seemingly perfect family. The film also stars Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins, among many others.

The Housemaid is now playing in theatres.
