Jake Paul Has Teeth Removed After Brutal Anthony Joshua Knockout

Jake Paul confirmed he suffered several knocked-out teeth and other severe injuries during his sixth-round loss to Anthony Joshua in Miami on December 19. The former heavyweight champion dominated the YouTube star-turned-boxer throughout the bout.

Boxing fans watched Jake Paul face former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in the main event at Kaseya Center, as Netflix streamed. Paul remained competitive early but was ultimately knocked out in the sixth round at the 1:31 mark. During the fight, Joshua dropped Paul in the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds before sealing the victory.

The physical toll on Paul was significant. Jake Paul revealed that his jaw was fractured in two places during the fight, injuries that necessitated surgery across multiple areas of his face. The doctors reportedly installed two titanium plates—one on each side of his jaw—and removed several teeth as part of the procedure (via Ring Magazine).

Despite the damage, Jake Paul posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) following the bout, he wrote, “Jaw broken. Heart and balls intact. Time to rest, recover and return to Cruiserweight.” He also shared an X-ray of his “double broken jaw” and joked, “Give me Canelo in 10 days,” referencing Mexican boxing star Canelo Álvarez. Paul later added that he is dealing with “lots of pain and stiffness” and will avoid solid foods for the next seven days, sticking to a liquid diet as he recovers.

Joshua, for his part, praised Paul’s toughness during the post-fight press conference. “Jake [did] well while it lasted… Jake has spirit. He has some heart,” Joshua said, adding that Paul could potentially return to the ring if he maintains the desire to compete (via Variety). The loss was just the second defeat of Paul’s professional career, dropping his record to 12–2, with seven wins by knockout.
