Jennifer Lawrence recently reflected on an experience she’d had on the set of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire during Variety and CNN’s Actors on Actors series. She revealed that she took Ambien ahead of a scene with Philip Seymour Hoffman and began “hallucinating.” Lawrence also shared that Elizabeth Banks was upset by her behavior at the time.
Jennifer Lawrence hallucinated on Hunger Games 2 set after taking an Ambien
Lawrence sat down with Leonardo DiCaprio in Variety’s Actors on Actors series, where she opened up about a shocking mix-up instance from the Hunger Games 2 set. She revealed that she accidentally took an Ambien in the morning, mistaking it for something else.
At the time, she also had a dance sequence to film with Hoffman. She said, “I was hallucinating. Elizabeth Banks got really annoyed with me. Maybe she didn’t know that I was on an Ambien.”
Lawrence then asked DiCaprio if there was anything she should be especially mindful of when working with Martin Scorsese. They are both set to collaborate with the director on his upcoming film, What Happens at Night. To this, DiCaprio revealed that she needs to be prepared for a lot of film references he might give.
Lawrence played Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games film series. Her run in the franchise concluded in 2015 with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. Multiple reports recently claimed that Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson could make a return in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is set to arrive in theaters on November 20, 2026.
Meanwhile, Scorsese’s upcoming movie starring DiCaprio and Lawrence centers on a married American couple who head to a small, snowy European town to adopt a child. During their journey, they take a stay at a mysterious hotel, where they also come across some strange characters. As they near the adoption, things take an unexpected turn, and the couple begin to question the life they built together and reality.
