Rob Reiner’s Comment About Charlie Kirk Resurfaces Amid Donald Trump’s Post

Rob Reiner‘s comments about Charlie Kirk‘s shooting have resurfaced in the wake of the former’s demise. An outpouring of tributes and condolences emerged following Reiner’s and his wife, Michele Singer’s, death. However, Donald Trump was not among those who expressed their condolences to the deceased couple. Rather, the President took to social media to criticize the late filmmaker, a move that sparked considerable backlash.

Following Rob Reiner‘s demise, clips of the filmmaker’s appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where he shared his thoughts on Charlie Kirk’s shooting, were circulated by fans. In his appearance on the show, Reiner was asked by Morgan about his reaction to Kirk’s murder. The former replied, “absolute horror,” adding that he had “unfortunately” seen the video of the political activist’s assassination, which he noted was “beyond belief.”

The When Harry Met Sally filmmaker, who was the polar opposite of Kirk, a conservative, due to his liberal beliefs, stressed that what happened to the latter shouldn’t happen to anyone else. “I don’t care what your political beliefs are. That’s not acceptable. That’s not a solution to solving problems,” he further stated.

Reiner then praised Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, for forgiving his killer at Kirk’s memorial, saying that what she said at the event was “exactly right.” He added that even though he was Jewish, he believed in Jesus’ teachings, “do unto others,” and forgiveness. “And what she said, to me, was beautiful. She forgave his assassin. And I think that is admirable,” he further stated.

Reiner’s reaction to Kirk’s demise contrasts with Donald Trump’s reaction to the former’s demise. Following Reiner’s death, Trump took to Truth Social to attribute his demise to “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME,” which he called a “mind crippling disease” that was “massive, unyielding, and incurable.” The President also accused the late filmmaker of having a “raging obsession” towards him, which he said drove people “CRAZY.” Further, he claimed that Reiner’s “paranoia” grew as the Trump administration “surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness.”

Trump’s comments sparked backlash among many people, including Republican politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie. However, he did not retract his statements or alter his stance towards Reiner and doubled down on his criticism. Speaking at a White House press conference, Trump remarked, “I wasn’t a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.” The President also accused The Princess Bride’s director of spreading false rumors about his ties to Russia.
