The United States’ Vice President JD Vance addressed the claims of being a “conspiracy theorist.” His response comes hours after a news article where the White House Chief of Staff seemingly made the accusation.
JD Vance responds to ‘conspiracy theorist’ claims
JD Vance addressed reporters during a press conference in Alburtis, Pennsylvania, on December 16, 2025. During the conference, a reporter asked the Vice President for a response to a Vanity Fair article, in which Susie Wiles called him a “conspiracy theorist.”
“I haven’t looked at the article, but I, of course, have heard about it,” Vance responded. “Sometimes I am a conspiracy theorist, but I only believe in the conspiracy theories that are true,” he defended himself.
“And by the way, Susie and I have joked in private and in public about that for a long time,” the Republican member added. He then went on to recall some of the “conspiracy theories” that he claimed to have believed. These included claims about COVID-19 and former President Joe Biden.
He ended his response, saying, “So, at least on some of these conspiracy theories, it turns out that a conspiracy theory is just something that was true 6 months before the media admitted it. And that’s my understanding.”
On December 16, Vanity Fair published an interview with Susie Wiles, where she said that JD Vance has “been a conspiracy theorist for a decade,” in the context of releasing the Epstein files.
However, Wiles later took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the article. She said that a “significant context was disregarded and much of what” she said in the interview. Wiles also accused the article of being an attempt to “paint an overwhelmingly chaotic and negative narrative about the President and our team.”
Despite the article, Vance defended her during the press conference. He said, “And Susie Wiles, we have our disagreements. We agree on much more than we disagree, but I’ve never seen her be disloyal to the President of the United States. And that makes her the best White House Chief of Staff that I think the president could ask for.”
