Donald Trump has received a harsh bit of criticism from veteran late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel for his insensitive comments on Rob Reiner in the wake of the latter’s tragic death. Kimmel slammed the current U.S. president for paying tribute to the late filmmaker in a distasteful manner. He went as far as to label Trump’s statements “hateful” and “vile.”

During the Monday night broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, its acclaimed host shed light on the US President’s recent comments about Rob Reiner’s death. The latter berated the late director for harboring opposing views to his administration.
“What we need at a time like this, besides common sense when it comes to guns and mental health care, is compassion and leadership. We did not get that from our president, because he has none of it to give. Instead, we got a fool rambling about nonsense. For Rob and Michele Reiner, we got this post,” Jimmy Kimmel said before highlighting Donald Trump’s Truth Social post about Reiner.
In his update, Trump initially expressed grief regarding Reiner’s demise before sharing his criticism. The businessman-turned-politician bizarrely noted that the filmmaker passed away “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”
In response, Kimmel went on a rant against Trump’s remarks, stating, “It’s so hateful and vile. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. My wife showed it to me this morning. I was like, ‘Even for him, that seemed like too much.’ But nothing is ever too much for him.”
The 58-year-old TV host further added, “That corroded brain is in charge of our lives. If you voted for that, it’s OK to reconsider. It’s perfectly fine. I have to say, I know from my personal interactions with Rob Reiner that he would want us to keep pointing out the loathsome atrocities that continue to ooze out of this sick and irresponsible man’s mouth.”
Notably, Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead at their residence on December 14. Los Angeles authorities confirmed their passing after responding to a call for medical aid.
