Jack Black is back on the big screen and already looking forward to his next movie. Fresh from promoting the new film Anaconda and in the middle of another Jumanji shoot, the actor says he still has one movie idea left on his list. In interviews, Black talked about how much he enjoys making movies and hinted that a musical could be his next move.
Jack Black wants to do a musical after Anaconda and Jumanji
Jack Black spoke about his work and upcoming projects at the Anaconda red carpet. He told reporters that he enjoys showing up for films he is proud of, saying, “I love the red carpet when I’m proud of what we’ve done” (via ETOnline)
When asked what genre he might try next, he didn’t rule anything out. “God damn it, I think I’ve done it all. Maybe a musical, I don’t know. I don’t know, I don’t know what’s next. I don’t know what the future holds.”
Black has been busy. Anaconda, a reboot that mixes horror and comedy, will open on December 25, 2025. The movie stars Paul Rudd and Jack Black together. They go to the Amazon to shoot a low-budget remake. However, they run the risk of real danger.
Jack Black has spoken warmly about the project, calling the script “a slam dunk” and praising the filmmakers and cast. He told The Hollywood Reporter he joined the film because he admired the director’s previous work. The script also clicked for him. “I loved the filmmaker’s previous movie… the fact that Paul Rudd was attached was like, oh dude, this is a slam dunk, and I told my agent, ‘Just say yes.’”
At the same time, the actor is working on a new Jumanji entry with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and others. He joked about the extended Jumanji family while describing the shoot and said the new script is, in his view, “the best Jumanji so far.”
Jack Black has a long history of combining music and comedy in his work, so the next movie idea of a musical fits his strengths.
