Whitney Leavitt skipping a few episodes of Mormon Wives Season 3 didn’t go unnoticed by viewers. Addressing fan questions, her co-stars even revealed that she had left the show. However, the influencer returned in the fifth episode, admitting she had briefly stepped away from the show. Leavitt shared that she agreed to film again only because she wanted to audition for Dancing with the Stars. The explanation didn’t quite land with fans and might’ve played a part in her DWTS elimination, despite her jaw-dropping performances.
Dancing with the Stars executive producer Ryan O’Dowd extended his support to Whitney. “Our job is to really just give her a platform and an opportunity to display her dance to the best of her abilities, and to allow her to reach an audience that can vote based on what they’ve seen that night”, O’Dowd told Variety. O’Dowd explained that Leavitt’s coming clean about wanting to be part of the competition shouldn’t have hindered her chances on the show.
“We should be celebrating someone who’s been very clear with what their intentions and motivations are, and who has, in some ways, realized the dream that she had and the goal that she had. So why see it for anything other than her just chasing her dream — which is something we all should aspire to?” the executive producer said.
