Fans are aware of SpongeBob’s favourite yellow Kelpo cereal box with an adorable green corn drawing on it. The giant cereal brand has now launched it as a real, limited-edition item for the upcoming movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.

Kellogg’s has upped their marketing campaign by making SpongeBob’s favorite cereal a reality. The iconic fictional breakfast item is now available on Walmart and Kroger shelves for a limited period of time.
Famous food blogger Markie Devo shared a quirky post about the new, adorable marketing campaign, accompanied by a lengthy caption. He wrote, “Attention residents of Bikini Bottom, Kelpo Cereal is indeed real. Kellogg’s is getting ready for the new SpongeBob movie with limited-edition Kelpo-inspired cereal.”
The Kellogg’s version of Kelpo is golden, crispy puffs of sweetened corn just like their classic brand of cereal. It is available in Walmart stores for a limited period of time. Notably, Kelpo has appeared in 20 SpongeBob episodes, making it a memorable fictional food item.
Unsurprisingly, fans are loving this new collaboration and have lavished praise and excitement in the comments section. One fan commented, “This is adorable! Looks like a yummy one too!!” Another wrote, “Super cute idea.” A third user chimed in, “This is amazing,” and finally a fan penned, “What a lovely cereal box.”
Non-fans, too, loved the packaging and adorable promotional campaign. Some fans wished that such a wholesome marketing move had existed in 2005, at the height of SpongeBob’s popularity as well.
Moreover, a few users wondered if it had one of the eight essential prizes inside. The original Kelpo cereal box from SpongeBob features a line that states, “One of 8 essential prizes inside.” However, the Kellogg’s version of Kelpo does not have that, which disappoints fans somewhat. The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants releases on December 19 in cinemas.
