Rosamund Pike on how her Bond role helped her play a villain in Now You See Me 3
The Golden Globe winner recently shared that her early experience portraying a Bond villain helped shape her latest role in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.
Speaking about her new role as Veronika in Now You See Me 3, Rosamund Pike explained that her earlier experience in Die Another Day helped her to portray a villain who is entertaining and unpredictable in the film.
The Gone Girl star told Games Radar, “I wanted Veronika to be having fun. I think the best villains are, which I kind of learned probably post-Bond, really. They’re most watchable when they’re fun to watch and they’re having fun.”
Moreover, Pike highlighted the character’s ability to shift tones instantly. She noted that audiences will see her “turn on a dime from being very plausible and magnanimous and speaking to the workers and the dignitaries at her diamond mine, and then we quickly see her being ruthless in the boardroom.”
Rosamund Pike, who plays a diamond industry billionaire entangled in money laundering, also said she wanted to contribute a character who could match the Now You See Me franchise’s “very intelligent horsemen.”
The Saltburn actress explained, “I wanted to do a movie that I felt people would just really enjoy, and it wasn’t too intellectually demanding. It was just a good time. I wanted to be part of something like that.” The actress also added that the character “sort of blurred line between” a feminist leader that might seem both admirable yet manipulative.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t brings back Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher as the Four Horsemen. The film opens in theaters on November 14, 2025.
