Chicago PD showrunner Gwen Sigan recently hinted at the return of a “big bad” on the show. In a recent episode of Season 13, viewers came across a minor plot reveal with the introduction of Raymond Bell. Sigan teases this further, seemingly revealing a showdown between Hank Voight and Raymond.

Gwen Sigan hints at Voight vs. Raymond in coming Chicago PD episodes
In conversation with Soaps.com, Chicago PD showrunner Gwen Sigan teased an upcoming plotline. It will see Hank Voight go against Raymond Bell. In Episode 4, Voight and Intelligence Officer Imani come across a bank robber, Gary Bell, who refers to his father, Raymond, as he blames him for his fate. As Voight and Imani visit Raymond, they pick up a few red flags, becoming more alert about the situation.
Soon, after Voight and Imani are led back to Raymond once again, he is expected to return in this week’s episode titled Impulse Control. Meanwhile, Sigan tells the outlet, that this storyline involving Voight, Imani and Raymond has a feeling of “diving into roots” and “generational violence and generational harm.” Further describing Raymond as an “exciting big bad” on the show, Sigan said, “It’s been really fun to write. It’s dark, it’s weird. It’s been a really different kind of storyline for us.” She then compared their dynamic to be similar to a cat and mouse, claiming it is a little more psychological.
In episode 4, Voight discovers an envelope on his car’s windshield, which supposedly came from Raymond. The envelope contained a picture of a young boy in a hospital bed, which Imani assumed is from Voight’s past. This week’s fall finale episode will see Raymond in action and Voight facing him in a confrontation that seems to unearth long-buried secrets. About how this storyline will progress, Sigan added, “It’s got a really great vibe to it and some really interesting themes to explore.”
