Avengers: Doomsday Could Have Doombots or Multiple Doctor Dooms

The MCU may have replaced Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror as the big bad of the Multiverse Saga, but rumors suggest that the franchise may retain one element from his arc. Recent speculations suggest that the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday could feature multiple variants or robotic imitations of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, similar to how Marvel had initially planned to show Kang in the now-scrapped Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Avengers: Doomsday rumored to feature Doombots

According to internet scooper Daniel Richtman, fans can expect to see either a horde of Doctor Doom variants or an army of Doombots in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

If the variant theory comes to fruition in Doomsday, it would be similar to how things would’ve unfolded in the original plans for Avengers 5, which centered around Kang the Conqueror. As teased in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the movie would’ve featured an extensive Council of Kangs, with versions such as Immortus, Scarlet Centurion, and Rama-Tut, playing a pivotal role.

Ever since Richtman shared new rumors about Avengers: Doomsday, many on the internet have drawn their own conclusions regarding the role of Doctor Doom’s variants in the film. The entertainment insider has since clarified that the movie could also feature a number of Doombots instead of living variants of the villain. “FYI I never said ‘Variants’ they could be that but they could also be Doombots. Who knows,” Richtman noted in a follow-up update on his X (formerly Twitter) profile.

While Marvel has confirmed a large portion of the star-studded cast for Avengers: Doomsday, precise details regarding the additional cast as well as the plot continue to remain under wraps. At the time of writing, Avengers 5 is on track to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, with its direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, set to premiere on December 17, 2027.
