Shortly after director Yi Zhou made bombshell accusations against Jeremy Renner, the star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the 54-year-old actor reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter through his attorney, Marty Singer. Renner claimed he and Zhou had a brief consensual affair and implored Zhou to stop spreading “salacious lies” about him. Renner also threatened further legal actions.
Jeremy Renner denies harassment claims, report
Shortly after Yi Zhou made some bombshell claims about Jeremy Renner, including allegations that he had sent her unsolicited pictures of himself, the Avengers star has now hit back. According to the latest reports from TMZ, the actor sent a cease-and-desist letter through his attorney, Marty Singer, claiming that he and Zhou did have a brief romantic encounter, but he later turned down her advances.
Renner threatened to take legal action against the filmmaker if she did not stop spreading “salacious lies” and exploiting his name and likeness. Zhou, however, told TMZ that she had sent Renner three cease-and-desist letters of her own over the past month.
Since then, neither Renner nor Zhou addressed the issue.
Zhou made the shocking claims on her Instagram on Monday. “He convinced me of his sincerity, saying he had been single for a long time and open to a long-term relationship,” she said, “I believed in him, in the power of love, and in the possibility of redemption.”
Renner allegedly did not promote the Chronicles of Disney. He also did not publicly deny that AI generated the film. Zhou continued, “When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me.” She added, “Such behavior is unacceptable and emblematic of the imbalance of power that continues to harm women in our industry.”
More reports about this are expected to arrive soon.
