Glen Powell Went Against Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Advice for Action Role

Glen Powell recently revealed the advice Arnold Schwarzenegger gave him for his action role in the upcoming movie, The Running Man. He disclosed that Schwarzenegger told him to stick with the rom-com genre rather than action. This is because it involves hectic schedules and painful action sequences. However, Powell didn’t take his advice and admitted that he liked doing action movies.

In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Powell was asked whether he received any advice from Schwarzenegger on doing action movies. He said, “Arnold’s advice was just like, don’t do action movies. They are incredibly painful. He basically said the only two movies he’s ever had a good time making were ‘Kindergarten Cop’ and ‘Twins.’ You’re covered in blood. There are night shoots. You’re getting your a** kicked. It is, you know; it’s like romcoms are probably an easier way to go through life.” However, Powell refused to take the advice of the popular action star, revealing that he’s having the “best time” of his life.

The Running Man, starring Powell in the lead role, is a second adaptation of Stephen King’s 1982 novel of the same name. The 1987 adaptation featured Schwarzenegger in the lead role. He recently told Powell and Wright that he only wanted one action movie from his career to have a remake. “The only movie that I always wanted to have redone of my movies was ‘The Running Man.’ So now, this one really upped it and did exactly that. The action was unbelievable and creative,” he added. (via PEOPLE)

Directed by Edgar Wright, the dystopian action thriller movie takes place in a near-future society, where individuals join a deadly game. They can travel to any part of the world while professional assassins secretly chase them. Cameras publicly capture each of their moves as they try to survive 30 days. A helpless working-class professional wanting to lift off financial difficulties joins the game, unexpectedly becoming a fan favorite.
