During Jennifer Lawrence’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host brought up the online buzz surrounding her new movie, Die My Love. Fallon opened the conversation saying, “The internet’s going crazy that Katniss and Edward are in a movie together,” which garnered excitement and applause from the audience.
However, Lawrence responded, saying that she’s “very nervous,” as the audience continues to applaud. She then turned to the audience and said, “No, no, no,” asking them to stop applauding.
“Everyone, calm down. No,” the Oscar-winning actress continued. “I’m very nervous that people are gonna like, sprint to the theater, thinking it’s like a Katniss and Edward fanfic.” She clarified, “It’s not.”
The Hunger Games actress then describes her new movie: “It’s like an idiosyncratic, like a poetic work of art.” Fallon then adds, “It’s beautiful, by the way,” to which the actress responds, “It is. It’s great. But if you’re expecting a fanfic, you’re going to be really disappointed.”
The Silver Linings Playbook ended with sharing her concern. “I’m just afraid that it’s going to come out and everybody is going to be mad at me,” she explained.
Both Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen and Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen are iconic characters from The Hunger Games and Twilight franchise, respectively.
