Meghan Markle’s acting career is reportedly set to relaunch. According to a source, she has bagged a project alongside A-list Hollywood stars. They claimed that she was determined not to play “small roles,” and thus, rejected several big offers. For those unversed, the former actress reportedly quit acting after her engagement to Prince Harry was announced. Her last gig was legal TV drama, “Suits.”
Source claims Meghan Markle turned down several scripts before accepting one
Meghan Markle has allegedly turned down many scripts before accepting the right one. A source told Rob Shuter that she has been quietly pursuing her acting career again and has been reading scripts for a few months. Reportedly, the Duchess of Sussex has been busy looking for the one perfect project that will help her Hollywood comeback. She seemed to have found what she’s been searching for.
According to the outlet, the 44-year-old has bagged an Amazon MGM comedy drama. Titled “Close Personal Friends,” it also stars Lily Collins, Brie Larson, and Jack Quaid. As per the insider, Markle was looking for “something smart, self-aware, but not nasty.” It seemed like the project fit her checklist. “This script gives her a wink — not a punch,” they added.
Allegedly, finding the right script and role was not an easy decision for the mother of two. On top of that, Markle reportedly didn’t want to play any small roles after living the royal lifestyle. It has been reported that she has seemingly rejected several projects, including rom-coms, period dramas, and a potentially good miniseries for a streamer.
Meanwhile, the news of the duchess signing an acting project has left her husband, Prince Harry, “ecstatic.” According to a family friend, the duke has always wanted her to be “creatively happy.” And fortunately, she appeared to have found the perfect role. An executive told Shuter, “The only person who can convincingly play Meghan Markle” is herself. Furthermore, the filming has reportedly commenced in Pasadena, California.
This will be Markle’s first drama after the popular series, “Suits.” She rose to fame through the legal TV show in which she played attorney Rachel Zane and the love interest of Michael Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams).
