Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez announced their engagement in August 2025. However, the footballer now revealed that the whole thing was spontaneous and not something that he had planned.
In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said that the engagement came late at night. Their children had surrounded the couple. He added that his daughter even nudged him to pop the question to her mom.

While talking to Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo described the scene of his engagement. He revealed that it happened around 1 AM with his daughters asleep nearby. Explaining, the footballer said, “One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio (Georgina), and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids came in and said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mum and you’re going to ask her to get married.'”
He added, “I said, ‘Wow, this is the right moment to say yes.’ Because my daughters said that and my friends were filming, it was what I wanted and I offered (the ring). I didn’t (get on one knee) because I wasn’t prepared, but it was a beautiful moment. I made a speech.” (via Piers Morgan Uncensored)
Ronaldo then discussed how he isn’t the most romantic person or someone who brings flowers every day. However, he is romantic in his own sense. And even though the proposal wasn’t planned by him beforehand, the star says that it was “beautiful.”
Cristiano Ronaldo then shared further about the moment with Georgina Rodriguez. He said, “One thing that I love, she didn’t care about the ring. She asked me if I was honest, and I said, ‘I want you and I want to marry you.’ I didn’t cry, but I had tears in my eyes.”
Then, talking about the wedding date, Ronaldo says that they shall tie the knot after the World Cup with the trophy. However, they are planning to keep the guest list small and intimate because Rodriguez does not like big parties.
