NFL might take a decision on Travis Kelce’s injury scare
Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce took a major hit during the team’s recent game against the Buffalo Bills. In light of the shocking injury, all eyes are on the NFL, which has yet to declare its ruling on the matter.
During the Chiefs vs Bills game on Sunday, quarterback Patrick Mahomes attempted to set up a touchdown for Kelce just nine minutes before the end of the first half. The tight end leapt to catch the pass and tried to land his first touchdown of the match. However, he failed to do so after making contact with Bills safety Cole Bishop.
As Kelce was about to catch the ball, Bishop came in with a strong tackle, delivering a heavy blow to his chest. The impact sent Kelce crashing down, sparking concern among viewers. Although the Chiefs’ star left the field early to tend to the injury, he returned to play in the second half of the game.
Fans and analysts have since debated whether Bishop’s tackle qualifies as a hit on a defenseless player. Kelce took the blow while he was in the air. As of now, the NFL has not announced its decision regarding a potential fine against Bishop.
In the past, the league has penalized players for hits against defenseless players, fining them up to $17,389. For instance, the NFL fined Washington Commanders’ Quan Martin $11,572 for such a hit in Week 8 of this season. Whether Bishop faces a similar penalty remains to be seen.
