Former Kansas City Chiefs star Priest Holmes recently praised Taylor Swift and how her impact has led young girls to take an interest in the NFL. The pop sensation has been making appearances at numerous games in support of her fiancé, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. With Swift in attendance, it was previously also reported that the viewership ratings of the NFL have increased.
Priest Holmes comments on Taylor Swift’s impact on NFL fans
The veteran Chiefs star recently sat down for a chat, where he shared his views on the “Love Story” singer’s impact on the NFL.
Priest Holmes stated to TMZ how Swifties have been indulging in discussions regarding the game. He said, “It’s pretty exciting what the Swifties have done, that phenomenon that’s taken over. Even my daughter, my grandkids, you know, they definitely are more involved with the Chiefs in football.”
Holmes further conveyed, “There’s definitely lots of young ladies, young girls that are now definitely involved with football.” Additionally, he praised Travis Kelce for equaling his record of 83 touchdowns for the franchise.
“Congratulations, Travis Kelce,” Holmes said. “You’re in good company, I can definitely say that. It’s pretty exciting to see what’s taken place as a phenomenon with the Chiefs right now, and it’s gonna be pretty awesome when he gets the chance to go across that threshold and get that 84th touchdown.”
In the game against the Washington Commanders, Kelce went on to make the franchise record and shared that he felt younger. On the new New Heights podcast episode with his brother Jason, he said, “I feel younger than ever. The energy in the building feels a lot more electric. Like, it feels like we’re moving at a pace that we weren’t moving at last year. And yeah, it’s honestly because we’re scoring touchdowns. I think when everybody’s getting a piece of the pie like this.”
