Modern Family stars Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen crossed paths at a football game at the University of Oregon. This reunion comes two years after the cast of the popular sitcom minus Burrell reunited. Burrell’s absence at the reunion — which the cast highlighted — sparked discussions about his well-being.
Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen reunite at a University of Oregon football game
Julie Bowen recently shared a series of photos on Instagram, highlighting her attendance at the University of Oregon vs. the University of Wisconsin-Madison game at the former institute during the weekend. She attended the match with her son, Oliver Phillips, who is a student at the University of Oregon. Ty Burrell, an alumnus of the university, also attended the match.
Bowen’s snaps included a selfie of herself and her son, a vibrant photo of a rainbow in the clouds, a shot of rain falling on the stadium, and a selfie with Burrell and another friend. Notably, Bowen showed her support for the University of Oregon’s Oregon Ducks by wearing attire themed after them.
Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell’s reunion comes two years after the Modern Family cast reunited at a home. However, the latter was absent from the reunion, which the cast humorously addressed with a framed photo. Sofia Vergara offered a glimpse at the reunion on Instagram, addressing Burrell’s absence with the caption, “We miss u Ty!!”
Burrell’s absence sparked speculation, with several fans believing he had died. However, the actor couldn’t make it to the event as he was recovering from surgery.
The Out of Practice star addressed the death speculation on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast, Dinner’s On Me. Burrell joked he died, asking, “Remember how I died? Do you remember when I died?” The actor shared that the cast informed him that he “apparently” passed away. “The only photos I had of me missing were me in the hospital from surgery,” he added.
Moreover, Burrell and Bowen’s reunion also comes after a recent mini-Modern Family reunion on September 27, 2025. The latter shared a photo of herself, Ed O’Neill, and Ferguson on Instagram, along with the caption, “The Pritchetts.” Eric Stonestreet commented under the photo, asking about Burrell’s whereabouts. He jokingly wondered, “Did he die again!?”
